Our History
Greenwich Registrars & Data Solutions Limited (formerly Union Registrars Limited) is the pioneer Company in the share registration industry, having commenced operations as a department in the then Barclays Bank DCO (Dominion, Colonial and Overseas).
1959
- Created as a Registrars department in Barclays Bank Dominion, Colonial and Overseas (DCO)
1976
- Sale of 50% of shareholding of Barclays Bank
- Name changed to Union Bank of Nigeria Limited
1989
- Disposal of balance shareholding by Barclays Bank
- Retention of Union Bank Registrars Department
2003
- Union Registrars Ltd became a full fledge Subsidiary of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.
2010
- Introduction of CBN’s regulation on Deposit Money Banks divestment from non core banking activities & subsidiaries
2014
- Union Bank divestment of 80% stake in Union Registrars Limited to Citadel Nominees Limited.
- Acquisition of Citadel Registrars Limited (formerly WEMA Registrars Limited) to form a more Robust Registrars outfit.
2015
- Following receipt of regulatory approvals, Union Registrars Limited was renamed GTL Registrars Limited.
2017
- Following the boards decision to diversify its business line, the Company commenced its Electronic Document Management System.
2018
- GTL Registrars Limited changed its name to Greenwich Registrars & Data Solutions Limited
